It’s been a little while since we’ve written about school. But applying for POD’s junior school place is already filling me with dread and that’s without the months of waiting. You may remember POD didn’t get offered a place at the local school when she was four (in 2015). She ended up starting reception at another school, which was a faff to get to, and she didn’t know anyone. That said, after a bumpy start, POD ended up making lots of friends and finished her reception year with a glowing report. We decided to stay on the waiting list for the local school “just in case” although we did question whether we’d move her if she was offered a place.
The summer holidays seem to have flown by this year. The combination of our kitchen renovation (we re-located our kitchen to our dining space) and a holiday in Asturias has certainly helped with that. Either way we’re fast approaching September and the start of a new term. Hard to believe POD will be in Year 2, it really doesn’t seem five minutes since she began reception.
It’s hard to believe POD starts Year 2 in September. In some ways I wonder where the time has gone as it doesn’t seem five minutes since she joined reception. But so much has happened in that time. She’s grown ALOT for starters, not just in height but in character too.
POD loved Petits Filous the moment she tried them and they’ve been a firm favourite ever since. Whether it’s tucking into one of the Little Pots or pairing it with fresh fruit. Her preferred choices are apple, banana, strawberries or raspberries depending on what flavour Petits Filous she’s picked. Now she’s older she enjoys Petits Filous Big Pots too whether after a meal or as part of a packed lunch. Typically this is on a Saturday when she has Stagecoach Performing Arts plus of course whenever we take a picnic out. Petits Filous pots and pouches can survive out of the fridge for up to five hours so they’re an ideal snack for our little adventurer.
Six year old POD desperately wanted a Hatchimal for her Christmas Day birthday last year. We ended up purchasing a camera for her, which she also wanted, as Hatchimals were sold out everywhere. POD’s desire to nurture a Hatchimal has remained ever since. Luckily the newest members of the Hatchimal family have just arrived and they’re all glittery! The Hatchimals Glittering Garden range is same size as the original Hatchimal except there’s a Shimmering Draggles or a Sparkly Penguala inside.
If you read this post, you’ll know our house is in need of some love. Quite a lot as it goes. Of course we can’t do everything but we’re excited to be having a new kitchen. This week we took delivery of 126 boxes which are currently scattered across three rooms. So with work starting in a matter of days, it seemed a good time to tell you a bit about what we’re doing.
Six year old POD has been asking to see Disney’s Beauty and the Beast film for a while now. Having loved the original animation, she’s been waiting patiently for it come out on DVD after we missed it at the cinema. The movie was released on DVD today and if that wasn’t exciting enough, POD received a very special dress to coincide with the launch. A Limited Edition Disney Belle dress which is available exclusively at Harrods. Produced by the renowned specialist dress company Rubie’s Masquerade, it’s one of just a thousand handcrafted dresses that have been made across Europe, Australia and Asia.
We relished our time in London and the city was our home for many many years. In fact we ended up living in our Victorian house for ten years after saying we’d move after two! Funny how that happens isn’t it? We’d contemplated moving in 2008, when we’d grown out of the property, but decided against it in favour of a dormer loft conversion. It fell through days before work began but all was not lost as we used the money to renovate the house.
Six year old POD has had a busy week what with her school sports day followed by her first Stagecoach performance outside of Early Stages a few days later. She didn’t win anything at her sports day mainly because she had so much fun. It was hilarious to watch. From looking in the opposite direction when the first race started to stopping to have her photograph taken and dancing at one end of the field when she should have been at the other.
We really do love Schleich products and always enjoy reviewing them whether it be the Giant Volcano with T-Rex, the Schleich Smurf House or the Wildlife Starter Set. Their horse ranges especially are just superb. POD has the Horse Club Riding Centre and Showjumper with horse already so she’s always enjoys adding to her collection.
