Our recent trip to the beautiful island of Corsica staying at the San Lucianu Beach Resort was our fourth holiday with Mark Warner and the fourth time we’ve taken advantage of their tennis set-up.
The POD Father and I signed up for the classic course, which gives 4 x 1 hour mornings of tennis tuition for £80, with in this case a single coach, Blake. Previously we’d played tennis at San Agostino, Lakitira and Levante where there are more courts and three coaches respectively.
Having played a fair amount before the arrival of POD, but not at all since until the Levante Beach Resort in May, we were still a bit rusty and looking forward to practicing what we’d learned in Rhodes and picking up any new tips Blake had up his sleeve to help improve our game.
We also took POD along to the Mini Tennis Drop In (€15) one morning before Kids Club – which was unfortunately less successful. Nothing to do with Blake’s abilities and more about POD being spoiled with one-to-one coaching by ‘Frosty’ at Levante. She was in a group this time.
I booked a serve clinic mid week for €20 which was excellent and gave me some much needed confidence. As well as giving you the chance to develop your tennis skills the course offers the opportunity to get to know other guests, on the course itself and during social tennis sessions in the evenings.
Sport is a great leveller to steal an old cliché and obviously one that Mark Warner is well aware of providing as all the resorts do many opportunities to get involved. From the structured tennis and sailing courses to the ad hoc volleyball, football and table tennis games. If you love sport as we do you’ll have plenty of chances to participate. If not you’ll be equally welcome to soak up the sun and dip in the pool.
As someone who sits behind a desk far too much I recommend you dust off your PE kit and grasp every opportunity to get active. If tennis is your thing you’ll be well catered for. The facilities and coaches at all the Mark Warner resorts we’ve enjoyed have been superb. The San Lucianu Beach Resort is the smallest of the 4 but still offers an excellent service (I wish mine was!).
The introduction of a fridge court-side which arrived on our last day is a very welcome addition. Cold water is available for you to fill your bottles from taps across the resort, but in temperatures of 30° it soon heated up. Oh and watch out for the over hanging palm trees. They’re a great source of shade on court but not so great when receiving a high bouncing ball!
San Lucianu lived up to our previous tennis experiences leaving us happily at 4 – 0 to Mark Warner.

Sounds like you are a whizz on the tennis courts with all that tuition!! I have to confess I’m much more of a ‘lay by the pool and soak up the sun’ girl but my hubby and kids would enjoy this!
It sounds like you had a great time and that Mark Warner really does cater for people who are sporty. I know this is something my boys would love.
H does tennis every week and I used to love playing as a child. I’d like to get back into it, but I think it might need to wait a while as I need a reasonably priced daytime class & I’m struggling with that.
This looks like a lovely place for a family holiday and it’s great that there are so many sports facilities there.
Looks like you had a fantastic time and much fun brushing up on your tennis. I have heard such good things about Mark Warner!
Obviously we were there at the same time but Dyl had a one to one with Blake which he really enjoyed. I totally reccomend the tennis lessons too.

It looks like you had a fab time! I haven’t played tennis since school but my little boy has started showing an interest after he got to have a go at school lately! x
Not played tennis in ages and would love to now, especially somewhere nice and sunny!
I love playing tennis but have to admit I was never very good at it. Wish I had given it a go on our MW holiday but the sea was more appealing
I have to admit Tennis is not for me, but in those surroundings with those views, I might change my mind x
I used to quite enjoy tennis as a teen, but I suspect that after 20 *cough* something years, I might be a little rusty 🙂 Looks like you had a fab time brushing up on your skills x

Looks like fun!! I am not in the least competitive nor do I like running, but I do really enjoy the ‘thunk’ of a good rally – I could do that for hours quite happily!
The views look gorgeous. I used to quite like tennis although was never very good. It sounds like you all had a great time.
