The Alphabet Project | C is for Cervione

Welcome to the third week of the Alphabet Photography Project and letter C! Thank you to everyone that joined in last week.

There seems to be a bit of a travel theme going on after Boulogne for letter B. This photograph was taken a couple of months back when we were in Corsica. The historic Cervione is a little known village with wooden shutters, cobbled streets and quirky cafes. One of the first things we saw when we got out of the taxi from the nearby Mark Warner resort was this little house in a hill. The views they have must be absolutely magnificent as their patio faces seaward. Just beautiful.

Photos from Audresselles and Wimereaux

Our recent trip to France saw us head up the coast to see what the Côte d’Opale had to offer. Although more popular now than it once was, this little known part of France has much to offer. We saw bomb craters from World War II, an obelisk to commemorate the Dover Patrol and heard about the guns beneath the lake at Cap Blanc Nez.

Running down the sandbanks in Wissant

One of the places we visited on our recent trip to France was Wissant. It’s a pretty seaside town located in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, just over 10 miles away from Boulogne and about the same distance away from Calais. The town is one of the last fishing villages in France that uses a traditional method of fishing using a flobart (wooden boat).

The B&W Photography Project | Week #65

Hello everyone, welcome to week #65 of the Black and White Photography Project. Thank you so much to those of you that joined in last time.

This photograph was taken on a recent trip to Northern France. We were heading down to a quiet beach to see a 17th century fort when along came a bride and her groom with a photographer. It really was too pretty a scene not to capture.

The Alphabet Project | B is for Boulogne

Welcome to the second week of the Alphabet Photography Project and letter B. Thank you to everyone that joined in with letter A. I must say it’s so nice to have this project back again, despite being crazy busy I really did miss it.

This photograph of the Notre Dame in Boulogne was taken on a recent visit to the old town which is just beautiful. It formed part of a trip to Northern France and we found some absolute gems along the way. Our first stop was Cap Blanc Nez on the Opal Coast where we discovered bomb craters from World War II, a huge obelisk which commemorates the Dover Patrol and a lake that houses three enormous concrete bunkers.

Photos from Cap Blanc Nez, Côte d’Opale

This weekend saw us travel to Northern France to see what the Côte d’Opale had to offer. Our first stop was Cap Blanc Nez (‘Cape White Nose’) which is one of the two caps, the other being Cap Griz Nez. Listed since 1987, it’s part of the network of Great Sites of France along with Navacelles, the Gorges du Verdon, the city of Carcassonne and the Bay of Mont Saint Michel.

What’s The Story? | 28th September 2015

Hello everyone, welcome to What’s The Story for w/c 28th September. Thank you to those of you that joined in last week.

We spent the weekend in France so I thought I’d share one of the fabulous views along the Côte d’Opale. This was taken near a hilltop obelisk that commemorates the patrol that kept the Channel free from U boats during the First World War. On a good day you can see Blighty across the water. More to follow on the blog soon.

The B&W Photography Project | Week #64

Hello everyone, welcome to week #64 of the Black and White Photography Project. Thank you so much to those of you that joined in last time.

These photographs were taken on a recent trip to Whipsnade Zoo. I love the colour versions but in monochrome they seem just that little bit more dramatic. It was such a great day, the views were just glorious.
