#UKexplore in May 2019

How’s everyone’s half-term been? We’re often away but with so much on at work, and various other things, it just wasn’t possible to escape. I say that but I was in Italy a couple of weeks ago! We’ve managed to enjoy a little of the great outdoors this month at least though. Over the Bank Holiday weekend, we took a nice walk along the canal before heading to the Surrey County Show.

If you’ve not been before, do check it out next year. It’s the largest one-day agricultural show in the UK and a brilliant day out for all the family. There are hundreds of animals to see, food and drink, entertainment, rural crafts as well as plenty of exhibitors and activities to keep the kids entertained. POD loved playing with the controls in a helicopter, sliding down the helter-skelter and screeched her way around on the Ferris wheel!

If you’ve not come across #UKExplore before, it’s an Instagram based community focused on outdoor adventures and special places. Every month we give away a National Trust day pass. Your photograph doesn’t have to be an image from one of the 534 National Trust properties (although we adore them), we want to see your ‘off the beaten track’ spots, too.

Your photograph could be the most marvellous of meadows, the perfect place for a picnic, the loveliest lake for skimming stones, or rambling routes for running along. Wherever and whenever you’re out exploring, simply take a photo and upload it to Instagram using the #UKexplore hashtag so we can find you. You don’t have to be a blogger either, anyone can join in and be in with a chance to win a prize.

The #UKexplore community is co-hosted by Karen from Mini Travellers (& Fuelled by Latte) and myself. If we’re not following each other on Instagram, do give us both a nudge – you’ll find me here and Karen here. These are just a few of my favourite images from the last month. Make sure you head over to Mini Travellers to see Karen’s winner and her best #UKexplore photographs too.

My winner this month, however, is TraveLynn Family who wins a Day’s Family Pass to a National Trust property for this brilliant capture. An expression of pure joy when the stabilisers come off! Well done and thank you so much to the National Trust for providing the prize.
