Jonathan, or the POD Father as he’s often referred to here, was an early adopter of the beard. It was a permanent fixture while travelling and he sported a more shapely variation for a time when we first got together. Of course he went through the rigmarole of a daily shave but much has changed since those heady days. The POD Father has been with beard (in various guises) for many years now. It came off for a fancy dress party a couple of years back but swiftly returned as POD barely recognised him.
POD and her Daddy have a great relationship with hugs and kisses an important part of that. With Father’s Day fast approaching, Braun recently conducted some research to establish whether kids prefer kisses from Daddy to be soft and smooth (Team Soft) or whether the facial hair makes them giggle (Team Tickly). The study found 38% of kids don’t give their Daddy’s as many kisses as Mummy because of stubble with 73% preferring them to be clean shaven. BUT, some 73% of kids said the one thing they loved about Daddy’s kisses is that it’s tickly and makes them laugh.

Ah! 1999 was indeed a great year – it was the year I got married! I love how close POD and Daddy are in the photos and the video. she obviously loves his tickly beard! I didn’t get much ‘play’ with my dad when growing up, but I do remember chases up the stairs as he tried to ‘get us’ with his tickly beard! Those are lovely memories. Lovely post and some absolutely gorgeous pictures of Pod and her Daddy. My husband is definitely team tickle and always has been, my daughter particularly finds it amusing that he has a beard, I have gotten used to it now but kisses are difficult sometimes for everyone with his scratchy face. He looks a bit like a boy when he shaves it all off so it probably won’t go anytime soon 😉
1999 was a fabulous year. SO many fond memories of it! Mr R is clean shaven, mostly because he came back from travelling years ago with a beard and looked like Timothy Claypole from Rentaghost. I haven’t ever let him grow it back! 😀
I remember hating it when my dad was stubbly as a child, and I never liked facial hair on men at all until my other half grew a beard last year. Now I won’t let him shave it off as I love it so much 😉
I prefer team soft….but the girls have to deal with team tickly…..they often complain their dads beard is tickling them!
I remember my dad playing a game called ‘Mr Lickychins’ when he would chase us and blow raspberries on our necks but afterwards I’d always have a rash from his stubble which ruined the fun!
Although I love my fella to have a beard for a rugged look I think I’m on team soft! x

I’m team soft, as are the girls but they do still give him kisses when he’s trying one of new moustache or beard styles!
