That moment

There will always be photographs for those special occasions, the best ones being when they don’t know you’re there. Like the time POD wanted to play in the garden just before her Christening!

What I love about photography is that you capture that moment. Whether it was the first time POD blew a dandelion clock,

21

tasted a lolly

22

or tried out her new swing!

Occasionally there’s no photograph, just something that happened you simply have to remember. Last night POD opened a nursery rhyme book at bedtime, said “what’s this one Mummy?”and promptly sung it word for word. Only to do the same again with a further ten nursery rhymes. It’s the most wonderful sight to see our three year old have an impromptu sing song at bedtime!

    • Charly Dove March 3, 2014 at 11:17 pm

  • Vikki Holness March 3, 2014 at 4:08 pm

I LOVE everything about these photos and think each one captures the essence of childhood beautifully. Our babies grow up far too quickly and i’ve come to realise that it’s the littlest moments that actually make up the BIGGEST moments in our lives. xxx #livingarrows

    • Charly Dove March 3, 2014 at 11:24 pm

Thank you so much Vikki. It’s very true that the little moments make up the big moments especially when they grow so fast. I love that at least some can be captured through photographs 🙂

  • Helen Sims The good life mum March 3, 2014 at 6:19 pm

    • Charly Dove March 3, 2014 at 11:36 pm

  • LauraCYMFT March 3, 2014 at 8:52 pm

Great set of photos. It amazes me how they just “do” things one day. I still love that sun hat of hers.

    • Charly Dove March 3, 2014 at 11:38 pm

Me too – it’s funny isn’t it. We’ve done nursery rhymes at bedtime on a few occasions and she’s just been learning the words of the less popular ones. Amazing! I so hope that sun hat still fits when the weather is warmer 🙂

  • Tarana March 3, 2014 at 9:30 pm

She’s so adorable! I wish I could capture the countless memories I have of my toddler, but it doesn’t always work that way 🙂

    • Charly Dove March 3, 2014 at 11:39 pm

That’s very true, it doesn’t always work out the way we plan it! Thank you 🙂

It really is about trying to capture the moment somehow. It’s why I blog and now it’s why I’m trying to aspire to photographs as good as yours!

Just simply breath-taking photos Charly, just gorgeous. I think we all aspire to bottle those moments – more often than not with me though my skills are nowhere near as good as yours so they’re more like little reminders 🙂 Thank you so much for linking up! 🙂

Thank you so much Cas, that’s really kind of you although your photos are great! Sorry it’s taken so long to link up *makes note to remember*

  • Katie Kitchen March 4, 2014 at 8:32 pm

What stunning photos… one of my favourites of my son is with his best friend one I had forgotten. He is wearing a Superhero outfit and is holding her hand – the photo is not focused properly just snapped but perfectly for that moment. I was given a quote this week “Sometimes being a friend is even better than being a superhero” and it reminded me of this lost second in time.

    • Charly Dove March 5, 2014 at 12:45 pm

What a lovely moment Katie, that just sounds wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing and your comment 🙂

  • Jenny from Cheetahs In My Shoes March 4, 2014 at 8:51 pm

Like so many others, I love the lolly one – so many parents can recognise that moment and that first taste of cold sweetness is so magical

    • Charly Dove March 5, 2014 at 12:52 pm

That’s very true, the look on her face is just priceless! She did end up going after my Magnum though cheeky monkey 🙂

  • Mummy of Two March 4, 2014 at 8:57 pm

    • Charly Dove March 5, 2014 at 12:53 pm

Thank you, it will be nice to look back on these. I still find it incredible how much she’s grown over these past months!

  • The English Dad March 4, 2014 at 10:00 pm

Beautiful photos! Love the dandelion one.. Caught her at the exact right moment there 🙂

I often think I should rush to grab my phone or camera to record them singing. Sometimes I catch a little bit of it but often spend more time faffing than actually just stopping and listening. Should just listen and treasure the memories!

    • Charly Dove March 5, 2014 at 1:07 pm

Thank you very much – I do love that dandelion one, she was so confused by it initially! It’s very true about trying to capture that moment, sometimes it’s just not that easy. I had a feeling if I got my camera or phone while she was singing she’d stop 🙂

  • Jenny @ The Brick Castle March 5, 2014 at 3:27 pm

All those firsts – and they don’t ever seem to end thankfully, they just have new challenges and achievements to add to the collection 🙂

  • older mum in a muddle March 5, 2014 at 6:43 pm
