At the ripe old age of five POD has adopted a love for all things pretty but she adores the great outdoors just as much. Whether it be climbing trees, rolling down hills or making potions for fairies, being outside is definitely a happy place. POD isn’t put off by the weather either, she said recently she loves the rain as she can jump in muddy puddles – a tell tale sign that she loves to get messy!
We were recently challenged by AO and Hotpoint UK to #SayYesToMess – a superb test given POD’s pretty much up for anything. As well as the outdoors, she’s a creative little soul enjoying the likes of colouring, painting and crafts just as much. Sunday was a nice enough day however so we opted for fresh air, water in a disused sand pit and perhaps a spot of pie making. We were all in the garden together albeit doing different things, POD wandering round with her watering can and the POD Father tidying the shed while I worked on some photographs.
Although POD found a Stig of the Dump idea highly entertaining, she opted to make a muddy puddle in the grass for her bare feet. Jumping and and down with glee, she splattered mud up her legs before heading to a flower bed for some digging. Much to her delight, she found a purple worm although I’m not sure he felt the same when he was thrust into direct sunlight! When I looked up again POD was smearing a ball of mud across her cheeks, laughing as she did so.
Next time I looked up POD was pouring a bowl of muddy water down her front. More giggles ensued. I’m not sure what happened after that but she took to rubbing a fresh clump of mud up her arms, adding a little more her her face as she went. By the time she’d finished, she was caked in mud! What followed was a shriek of “Look Mummy I’m Stig of the Dump” and said with such pride too!
After she’d finished we gave her a quick wash down with warm water before heading up for a much needed bubble bath. We had bubble beards, bubble legs and bubble arms as well as a rather brown flannel. Once nice and clean, POD was back outside enjoying the sunshine albeit minus the mud. Her dress went in the washing machine on a 40 degree cycle, coming out looking and smelling better than it did before it went in. It just goes to show you really have to #sayyestomess.
