Having started nursery when she was a year old, by three POD was pretty much deciding what she wanted to wear. Granted she didn’t always get her way but she’d certainly developed her own sense of style way before she started school. These days her clothes tend to fall into two categories – beautiful dresses and cool casuals. Saltrock certainly falls into the latter with POD insisting on wearing their clothes regardless of whether she’s at the beach or in the forest.
We spent many years living in London before moving to Surrey in 2010. Five year old POD has grown up living in the countryside and we’re always out exploring the best of what the Surrey Hills and beyond has to offer. We’ve discovered we’re only an hour away from one of the best beaches in the country – West Wittering. It’s a truly beautiful spot and at this time of year, the ideal place to blow away a few cobwebs with barely a soul around. The expanse of sand at low tide is immense, there’s row upon row of colourful beach huts and there are hugely talented surfers riding the waves. It’s a stark contrast to the summer when we had to pitch up at the Witterings before 9am to secure a good spot! We were down again recently following a request from our ‘Saltrock Surf Bandit’ (this has become a thing) to dig holes, jump the waves and build sandcastles.
Saltrock Clothing is a true British brand started in the Eighties by two brothers. Having arrived in London they travelled to Cornwall in their quest to find the surf. While they loved the lifestyle, they soon ran out of funds so they begged, borrowed and salvaged so they could print original, surf-inspired designs on t-shirts and sell them from the back of their car. The duo named the brand Saltrock after their favourite surf break back home in South Africa.
Today it’s stronger than ever with ambassadors such as Andrew “Cotty” Cotton, Andrei Burton, Jenna Goddard, Katie Clark and Claire Smail sharing the same values and attitudes. Saltrock Clothing really appeals to us as POD loves the beach themed designs. The quality is spot on for our mini adventurer too as her clothing has to be able to cope with rolling in the sand, climbing trees and generally getting grubby.
We have a turquoise fleece from Saltrock which POD insists on wearing almost every time we go out now. It’s warm enough for her to wear just a long sleeved t-shirt and a Saltrock t-shirt underneath too. While Saltrock clothing is great for the beach, it’s also perfect for POD’s countryside escapades too. Whether it be hunting for treasure in the forest, climbing or jumping in muddy puddles. It also matches POD’s wellies and ear muffs too which she was thrilled about.
Huge discounts available
Saltrock has incredible discounts available at the moment. The turquoise hoodie POD is wearing in these photographs has an RRP of £39.99 but it’s currently down to £15! Their t-shirts are also great quality and amazing value. The Surf Bandit t-shirt POD has is currently only £2.99 with a selection of other t-shirts just £4.99. You can also get a further 10% off the sale prices by using the code PODCASTDOVE10.
I have to say we’re huge fans of Saltrock, the designs work so well for POD. We’ve never been fans of the pale pink glittery styles so it’s refreshing to find designs that we love. Or as POD puts it ‘are boring and look like boy clothes’. Saltrock is all about fun, creativity and laughter which is exactly what being a five year old is all about. Saltrock is for men, women and children up to age 14. There are also lots of accessories available too. For more information, check out their website.
