Postcards from Levante Beach Resort

We’ve spent the past week having the most wonderful time in Greece with Mark Warner at the Levante Beach Resort. Custom-designed, the five-star resort is located on Afandou which is Rhodes’ longest beach.

This was our first trip as a family with Mark Warner although we holidayed with them twice before POD came along. We really hoped we’d have the same experience as we had done previously – fantastic activities, great food and with any luck a dollop of sunshine. We fell in love with the resort as soon as we arrived and who can blame us? It’s beautiful. There are full posts coming (oodles of editing to do!) but in the meantime here’s just a taste of what was a truly fabulous break.

Although POD loves the water, just before our holiday she developed a fear of her head going under. This led to us purchasing various inflatables when we arrived although she built up her confidence quickly. It wasn’t long before she was jumping in the pool, having water fights and launching herself onto an inflatable whale she named Toffee.

She loved her new swimming costume and matching hat although did insist on wearing that infamous headband underneath. Of course!

The childcare at the Levante Beach Resort is excellent. POD spent a few hours each morning in Mini Club and got to do all kinds of activities including sailing, windsurfing and tennis. Little did we know she’d do a volley in her first tennis lesson – she even stepped into the shot before hitting the ball. Not bad going for a four-year-old.

It turns out POD loves tennis so she had a few lessons during the course of the week. Her coach was incredibly patient given her concentration lacked on occasions and she did brilliantly. If you ask her what she enjoyed most about her holiday, she will say the tennis every time. Be warned though, this is usually coupled with her shouting “high five volley” at the top of her voice!

We managed to get back into playing tennis ourselves too and it was excellent to be able to do that. We played regularly before POD was born but not since so it was great to work our way up there again with the help of the Mark Warner coaches. Hopefully we can all play as a family now we’re back which would be amazing.

The POD Father even got to try a spot of sailing as well which he thoroughly enjoyed. It was such a glorious day to be on the waves.

The beach was a great place to escape to for that little bit of calm. I loved listening to the sound of the waves. POD rather enjoyed skimming (throwing) stones into the sea and filling her Crocs with sand to make a waterfall.

Amid all the activities and the non-stop fun, we got the opportunity to relax too. And of course enjoy a few too many ice-creams!

All the pools at Levante are great but the beach pool was certainly one of my favourite places. There is nothing better than sitting on a sunbed looking out to sea, you could see for miles. It was a such a shame to say goodbye to the resort but we had the best time and we’ll definitely be back for more.
