This is a photograph of POD playing hide and seek at National Trust owned Ickworth House. She has her eyes closed so she was convinced we couldn’t see her!

The B&W Photography Project | Week #18

Hello folks and welcome to another week of monochrome loveliness.

This is a photograph of the London Eye, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and beyond taken from 28 floors up. One of the things keeping a few of us busy over recent weeks has been organising a party for 300, the venue for which has the most amazing views. It was a celebration of 25 years and the perfect end to a brilliant week which saw five teams reinvent in a category – in less than five days.

How to join in

To join in with the Black & White Photography Project, just link up a short post, with or without words, featuring a black and white photograph. You can link up a collection of black and white photographs too if you prefer. The photograph/s can be from any time – old and new are welcome. Project 365: Week #45

After last week’s photo round-up of October, its great to post photographs just for the week. That said it has been immense! We had five teams of millennials reinvent a category (in five days!) and an awesome party followed with c.300 guests. Having been on the teams organising both events, it was great to see everything come together.

We managed to make it to an annual firework display on Wednesday too which was brilliant. Either side of that there’s been early morning delights, glimpses of London and art on the Underground.

Welcome to Project 365: Week #45.

Alphabet Project | Z is for zebra

Well here we are at the end of the first Alphabet Photography Project!

A massive thank you to everyone that’s joined in and hats off to those of you that have lasted the distance. There have been so many incredible photographs shared and some pretty amazing words along the way too. With the festive season fast approaching, we’ll be kicking off the next Alphabet Photography Project on January 14th 2015.

These photographs were taken at the wonderful Whipsnade Zoo. We had the best time when we were there in August. We were lucky enough to see these wonderful creatures. Letter Z had to be zebra.

How to join in

The Alphabet Photography Project runs every Wednesday. A Linky is live from that day until the following Tuesday so you can upload a short post or an Instagram photo. If you include a link back to PODcast I’m happy to share it for you.

You can post a photo on Instagram (PODcast is here) using the hashtag #alphabetphoto. There are PinterestFacebook and Google+ groups too.

Ideas for letter Z

The #alphabetphoto theme can be interpreted in any way you choose. Your letter might be a photograph for example, an object that resembles a letter or an adjective. Have a look at the letter Z hints in last week’s post. If you get really stuck, an online Scrabble dictionary is a good point of reference!

Pumpkin picking at Secretts Farm

Last weekend after blowing away a few cobwebs we went pumpkin picking at Secretts Farm. It’s is a family-run business established in 1908 and situated in Milford, Surrey. They grow vegetables and salad crops and have converted stables full of their own crops and local produce. There’s also a vintage tea room, gift shop and garden centre. Plus of course pick your own.

Waiting for one of the tractors to take us to the pumpkin field meant we could check out the wares of those returning. There were pumpkins a plenty in a range of sizes and some varieties we’d not even seen before. When our tractor arrived we got to sit on hay bales and enjoy the view around the farm. It was already far more exciting than going to the local supermarket!

POD was off as soon as we arrived at the field, jumping over the furrows and dodging the pumpkins while shouting “what about this one Mummy?”.

Having not been to a pumpkin farm before, we hadn’t anticipated how much choice there would be. It was also fun just to wander around and have a look. POD decided a large one was for us but despite her best efforts and a few strange noises she found she couldn’t lift it!

As you can tell by the look on her face here, she realised all was not lost as it made for a good seat. If you’re wondering why she’s wearing a hairband around her forehead – apparently this is how they should be worn!

These are just some of the pumpkins we came across, we spotted some white ones too. There’s so much scope for doing something really creative next year. On this occasion we went with a medium sized pumpkin and a small one for POD – for a grand total of £3!

There was just time to grab a snack, befriend a witch and have a run about before we took our tractor back. What a brilliant time we had, such a great set up and really good fun too.

What’s The Story? | 3rd November 2014

Hello everyone, welcome to What’s The Story? for w/c 3rd November 2014. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week and managed to squeeze in some Halloween fun too.

Thought we’d share our pumpkin picking exploits this week. POD had a brilliant time exploring although I think its fair to say we did too! This is POD using a giant pumpkin as a chair. And in case you’re wondering, headbands should always be worn around the forehead!

The B&W Photography Project | Week #17

Hello everyone, thank you for joining in with the Black and White Photography Project. Hard to believe we’re 17 weeks in already, how time has flown!

This photograph was taken at Winkworth Arboretum in Surrey. Autumn especially is incredible as there’s so much colour – hues of red, orange and yellow. This lake by the boathouse is no different although I’ve never seen a fisherman there before. It seemed wrong converting such a colourful photograph to monochrome but the view is still beautiful.
