We’re in the bathroom. POD is sitting happily on her potty nest but nothing is happening. In an attempt to change the focus I suggest we sing the Alphabet Song.
“No Mummy No”. Sorry do you want to sing it?
“Mummy not sing” Alright you sing it
“A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z. Old Macdonald had a farm. On that farm he had a dog, eee-iii-ooo. The End”
Lots of clapping. No wee. I launch into Wheels on the Bus.
“No Mummy I do it” There then follows an interesting variation. With actions.
“The babies on the bus go Waa Waa Waa [rubs eyes], the Mummies on the bus go Tratter, Tratter, Tratter [uses hands to show chattering], the Daddies on the bus go Stop that noise, Stop that noise” [much pointing and frowning].
Not my version but hilarious to watch. This does mean it’s not just a case of pink sheep anymore, the lyrics of nursery rhymes are evolving. No wonder POD has a blank expression on her face when I get involved. Unless she’s realised I can’t actually sing!

Hehe they become so fiercely independent don’t they? Even with their singing. Z does the same and wants to do it by himself sometimes. Good luck with the potty training. We’ve still not started!
They are Tas, I love that she has such a strong personality already. Nice to know Z does the same. We’re not fairing too well with the potty training either!!!
Brilliant! I particularly like that she already knows that mummys go ‘tratter, tratter, tratter…’ and daddys go ‘stop that noise…’ 😉 Which of course we do…?!

gorgeous photo! We used to have a lot of reading books on the potty. He soon cottoned onto the fact he could get lots of special time with mummy by saying he needed the potty just to sit and read for ages! x

Do you think this all happening on the potty is a ruse to get you to hang around singing for longer? If so hats off – you’re teaching her bladder control!

I love this, TC is the same, she came to a point (probably around the same age) when I wasn’t allowed to join in singing & if I did my mummy dancing she would put her hand on my arm and say “no, mummy!” with that stern look of hers, priceless aren’t they xx
