We’ve been busy creating jungle characters with our Bostik craft box this month. Using toilet paper rolls as a base, we made a zebra, a giraffe, a leopard and a tiger. Plus a little jungle scene to put them in.
To make all the animals you’ll need: 4 toilet paper rolls, a selection of card, foam board and animal print/plain paper, four pairs of googly eyes, pipecleaners, embellishments, pom poms, black felt and glue. We’re using Bostik White Glu which is brilliant as it dries clear and Bostik Glu Dots which are great for the fiddly bits. If you’re short on toilet paper rolls, you could easily roll pieces of card and glue them to create the same effect. We did think about making a tiger with a wooden spoon but in the end opted to go with animals that were all the same size.
We kicked off our crafting extravaganza with the zebra, first wrapping glittery card around a toilet paper roll. The Bostik White Glu dries pretty fast so while we left the zebra to the side, we cut out a head shape using the same glittery card. We then added googly eyes and features using black felt which we cut to size. We then added a few zebra stripes to the body and used a couple of black pom poms for feet before attaching the head. We were going to add some black and white striped pipe cleaners for arms (twisted around a pencil so they were curly) but POD decided they weren’t necessary. Who am I to argue with a five year old!
We adopted a similar approach for the other animals, using leopard, tiger and giraffe printed paper (instead of card) which we wrapped round each of the toilet paper rolls. We then added beads for feet and left them to dry for a few minutes as we had the zebra.
We then set about making each of their faces. We cut the desired shapes from the animal paper, adding foam board to the back of each to make them stronger. We then cut out the ears and added the googly eyes. For the giraffe we drew the features on with a pen while the other animals were treated to some black felt additions. Once the toilet paper roll and beaded feet were dry we glued the heads and bodies together. We added the pipe cleaner tail to the tiger once he was dry too.
So our animals had somewhere to live, we made a jungle using green glittery card as the base. The tree was made from a cardboard tube (you could use a toilet paper roll) which POD coloured brown, some green foam board and material leaves. And there we have it, one jungle kingdom ready for action!

Boo would love these, I love how they all have different expressions! They are all so awesome. I found the glu dots to be so fab – and no mess.
