Given all the activity last week, I wasn’t sure there would be much to show you. But how wrong I was!Β The small Clematis we planted already has two flowers. The Gerbera, Marigolds and Carnations we used to revitalise an old tub have just thrived. POD insists on holding the hose the entire time though so some flowers *may* have received an unintentional jet wash.
Amazingly the Red Hot Pokers, which resembled something you’d find in a field a few days ago, have really flourished. They’re already looking fabulous. I also found a some flowers near them I’ve never seen before which was nice surprise too.
This time of year is great for our herb garden – we have a Bay Tree, Lavender, Mint and Thyme. It was already established before we moved into our house but it would be nice to add to at some point.
The pot plants are coming along nicely too. Those unidentified red flowers look fantastic. As does the Fuchsia Β now POD’s stopped popping its heads. We’ve also had some large daisies appear and the Iris leaves are just getting longer – they may actually flower this year.
I did some planting with POD this week. Although it was great to see her get stuck in, her trowel was mainly used to distribute soil across the lawn. I think we may see the odd Pansy appear in the grass as a result.

ooo check out your pokers! Lovely lovely flowers – I have severe garden envy now.
Big daisies rock! I’d love to spend an afternoon in your garden -not climbing on PODs playhouse of course π
Thanks for joining in again and see you at BritMums next week!
Thank you very much – they’re amazing! I can’t believe how quickly they’ve come up. So looking forward to next next week, see you there π
What a beautiful garden you must have! I’m surprised you have any flowers left with POD around, my three are constantly picking ours as offerings for me! Poor flowers…. Lovely photos as usual Charly x
You’re too kind – we don’t really have many flowers. I might have to go and buy some more! POD has calmed down with pulling the heads off in preference for watering – and playing in her house π
Is the red flower a dahlia?? Lovely selection of flowers you have in bloom!
Oooh I don’t know – I will have look and see, thank you. They’re so pretty π
I think the red flower might be a variety of Dahlia too, but I’m not sure. Whatever they are, they are beautiful. Look at all your cherries, I hope the birds don’t pinch yours like they do with all of mine, I never usually get any. I love your Red Hot Pokers too, they are they most stunning flowers.
I must have a look to see if it’s a Dahlia – thank you! I’m loving the pokers π
What is it about garden hoses, TC insists on doing the watering too, then creates when she splashes herself and we have to change her clothes :)) Lovely photos as usual. My neighbour has red pokers, must pinch some seed heads this year! x
POD does exactly that! Great she’s involved though. Definitely get pinching those seed heads π
loving your red hot poker mine are tiny as they are new this year so looking at yours i have something to aspire to
That’s really kind of you Helen although I can take no credit – they were already established when we moved into our house. Amazingly they’ve changed again since I wrote this post π
Lovely pictures. The sunlight on the dahlia is beautiful. And the huge ox eye Daisy’s are so pretty with sunny faces.
I’m so glad I now know what it is – it’s been bugging me! They look amazing though and the daisies surprisingly π
They look stunning.
Thanks Eileen – I do love them π
Oh I was worried too that after all the flowering the week before I’d have very little to show this week! How wrong can we be? Your pokers are so lovely – I’m definitely going to get some of those. And your herb garden sounds wonderful. I love Gerberas but have never grown them. You’ve inspired me π xx
Thank you. The pokers have gone berserk – even since I wrote this post! I must take a photo of them tomorrow, I can’t believe how quickly they’re sprouting π
I love gardening with young children, like you say, you never know what is going to spring up in random places but it adds to the fun. I hope you do get a couple of little flowers on the lawn π
It’s great isn’t it – it does add to the excitement! Will be interesting to see where the flowers appear π
How gorgeous are all those flowers? Just stunning – what a beautiful garden you have! X.
Thank you lovely – I think the close-ups disguise the other work that needs doing though π
