Six year old POD has always been a fairly good drinker. She drinks water most of the time with a 150ml serving of pure orange juice daily. Drinking will never be the same in the Dove household again though thanks to these interactive Sip n Sound straws. They’re a brilliant way to encourage kids to drink more as each features an animal which makes a noise when liquid passes through it.
The Sip n Sound straws (£5.99 each) from Flair are designed for children aged 3 and up although they’re just as entertaining for adults as they are kids! The range includes a cow, a sheep, a horse and a pig – the latter being POD’s favourite just because it’s the funniest. Although there are health benefits associated with drinking from a straw, like cavity prevention and stain protection, what appeals about these straws is that they encourage kids to drink more. While POD is good at drinking water anyway, sometimes she doesn’t get enough so it’s a great way to get her to increase her intake.
The interactive Sip n Sound straws are easy to operate, there’s a small switch on the side of each animal which turns it on. They can be turned off when they’re not being used or if you fancy a break from all the farmyard shenanigans. We had lots of fun trying them out in the garden with each of us being one of the animals. They’ll be superb for when POD has friends over too and they’d be a great party addition. For now though, POD is more than happy to have all the animals in one glass and take it in turns sipping from each.
