As fans of Disney’s The Lion King, we’re looking forward to catching The Lion Guard when it’s on Disney Junior. It follows protagonist Kion, Simba and Nala’s son, as he assembles a group of animals to protect the Pride Lands – known as The Lion Guard. We’ve already familiarised ourselves with the main characters thanks to Ravensburger and their 4 in a box puzzles. Five year old POD adores the challenge jigsaws bring and has spent many months enjoying Frozen – another Disney classic from Ravensburger. You might have heard of it.
All Ravensburger jigsaws are sturdy and made from good quality recycled board. Each piece is handmade using special tools to ensure the jigsaw fits together perfectly every time. POD has the patience of a sparrow at times so pieces that don’t fit properly or rip easily doesn’t bode well. Jigsaw pieces need to withstand the force of a piece shoved where they’re not supposed to go and yanked apart again.
Disney’s The Lion Guard set of puzzles from Ravensburger is suitable for children aged three and above. The box comprises of four colourful jigsaws – one with 12 pieces, one with 16, one with 20 and one with 24 – all featuring The Lion Guard characters. POD enjoys putting the four puzzles together consecutively but you could just as easily do one and come back to the rest another time. And of course siblings could take two puzzles each – in theory. POD’s favourite is the 24 piece puzzle as it challenges her that little bit more but she loves them all.
While POD is doing the jigsaws, we like to talk about the characters. There’s Simba’s son Kion who is the younger brother of Kiara and leader of The Lion Guard. He’s ably assisted by his honey badger best friend Bunga who is the bravest, cheetah Fuli who is the fastest and hippopotamus Beshte who is the strongest. Whereas Ono the egrit has the keenest sight of The Lion Guard. We also discussed what the characters were doing. POD suggested Kion, Bunga, Beshte and Ono were running to save Fuli the cheetah after which they stopped to get their photograph taken. The Lion Guard crew also played hide and seek together before collecting sticks, giving a man a cuddle and heading home. POD has an superb imagination so I presume next time she plays with these jigsaws, she’ll tell me they’re doing something completely different! One thing’s for sure, she’s having a great time experiencing her The Lion Guard puzzles from Ravensburger.
