I’m not sure I know anyone that doesn’t adore Italian food. The Doves certainly love it so we were totally up for the #PrezzoLaFamiglia Challenge at Prezzo. La Famiglia is a pasta sharing bowl designed to feed up to four people. That did mean of course the three of us had to agree what to have! Initially, we thought we might share Spaghetti Bolognese as it’s one of POD’s favourites. That said, we had our eyes on one of the other sharing bowls.
The Cadbury Great British Egg Hunt celebrates the Easter season with a series of events at National Trust sites up to and over the Easter weekend. You can join in with the Cadbury Great British Egg Hunt at home too by creating your own family hunt. It really is eggsellent fun and you can make it as easy or as challenging as you like thanks to Cadbury.
Six year old POD has always been a fairly good drinker. She drinks water most of the time with a 150ml serving of pure orange juice daily. Drinking will never be the same in the Dove household again though thanks to these interactive Sip n Sound straws. They’re a brilliant way to encourage kids to drink more as each features an animal which makes a noise when liquid passes through it.
Hotel Chocolat have some ‘eggstremely’ great gifts on offer for Easter. From classics like hampers, boxed chocolates and selectors through to the most incredible selection of eggs. There are Extra Thick Eggs, still with a satisfying crack but filled to the brim with ‘eggsellent’ treats suitable for lovers of milk, dark and white chocolate. Giant Ostrich Eggs remain a favourite although the All Our Eggs In One Basket selection looks superb.
Six year old POD has always been a good eater so we’ve been lucky in that respect. She loves broccoli, peas and carrots especially and there are an abundance of fruits she enjoys like bananas, apples, raspberries, strawberries and melon. Tomatoes and cucumber are also firm favourites too. POD has school lunches during the week with the rest of her meals at home. She gets the recommended daily allowance of 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day most of the time. Of course the amount of food a child needs varies depending many factors like age, body size and physical activity. As a rough guide, one child portion should be measured as the amount of fruit or vegetables that can fit in the palm of their hand. But latest nutrition research suggests children should have double that. So how do we make sure our children are getting enough of the good stuff?
We’re huge fans of Netflix and with the help our now six year old, we’re collating a list of must sees for kids. POD adores Netflix Originals like Veggie Tales, Beat Bugs (with music from the Beatles) and Dawn of the Croods although she loves the likes of Harry and a Bucket full of Dinosaurs, Norm on the North and the Book of Life too.
The chocolatiers at Hotel Chocolat have been busy crafting the most decadent selection for the festive season. There are a whole host of new recipes to try along with those old favourites we love already. Here’s a little taste of what you can expect from the new collection and do enter our Hotel Chocolat competition too. You could win yourself a Classic Christmas Sleekster and a box of Toasty Toddies (worth over £30).
POD has long been a fan of Ribena although it’s not often we’ll have it in the car or when we’re out and about. Until now that is. Ribena has come up with an ingenious solution for kids on the go with their new Ribena Minis. And they’re quite brilliant.
As parents we always want the best for our children and that includes what they put in their tummies. We’ve been fortunate in that five year old POD is willing to give the majority of foods a try. These days it’s all about encouraging her to make good choices and while she does have treats, they’re usually reward or occasion based.
Yes I know it’s a hard life! Although truth be told we really wanted to go to the Gin Festival. Devised by Jym and Marie Harris, it enables visitors to try a plethora of gins with expert advice on tap. The Gin Festival has seen enormous growth since its 2012 inception, growing from a single event to reaching thousands of gin enthusiasts all over the country.
