Alphabet Photography Project

The Alphabet Project | D is for delicate

Such a great selection of letter C photos last week, thank you so much for joining in. I’m so looking forward to it calming down a little so I can get to you all.

As you can probably tell after last time, I’m missing macro photography. Blooms and dandelion clocks especially so here you have both. Roll on Spring!

The Alphabet Project | C is for close-up

Thank you for joining in with the Alphabet Photography Project for letter B last week. Work is a little bit bonkers at the moment so apologies if I’ve not got to comment yet.

There were a few options for letter C but it had to be close-up! I absolutely love macro photography and one of my favourite things is capturing the detail in the every day. There’s definitely a how to take better macro photographs post in the making in time for Spring!

The Alphabet Project | B is for birthday

Thank you to everyone that joined in with the Alphabet Photography Project last week, so many great interpretations of the letter A.

Sometimes you know exactly what photo you’ll use for a letter even if there are other options. This is one of those weeks. I absolutely love this image of POD dressed as a fairy – it was a great moment and captured without her realising. The festive period is a special time but even more so when your daughter’s fourth birthday is on Christmas Day!

The Alphabet Project | A is for adventure

The Alphabet Photography Project IS BACK! Hello to everyone that joined in last time and welcome, welcome, welcome if you’re new.

I utterly love this photograph from Newlands Corner in Surrey. The heavens opened just after we arrived but we made the most of it until the showers stopped by eating chips and chocolate money. The hanging round paid off with incredible views, wonderful smells and a whole lot of fun!

Alphabet Project | Z is for zebra

Well here we are at the end of the first Alphabet Photography Project!

A massive thank you to everyone that’s joined in and hats off to those of you that have lasted the distance. There have been so many incredible photographs shared and some pretty amazing words along the way too. With the festive season fast approaching, we’ll be kicking off the next Alphabet Photography Project on January 14th 2015.

These photographs were taken at the wonderful Whipsnade Zoo. We had the best time when we were there in August. We were lucky enough to see these wonderful creatures. Letter Z had to be zebra.

Have a look at the letter Z hints in last week’s post. If you get really stuck, an online Scrabble dictionary is a good point of reference!

Alphabet Project | Y is for young

Thank you to everyone that joined in with letter X last week – not easy at all! So here we are only two letters left to go in this first stint. We shall be back though – just a matter of when. Thinking early December or early January?

This photograph was taken at Secretts Farm in Surrey. We had the best time hitching a lift on a tractor to a field of pumpkins where we hand picked a couple of gems to carve. Letter Y had to be for young – at heart perhaps?

Alphabet Project | W is for waterfall

Thank you to everyone that joined the Alphabet Photography Project over the past week with letter V. It seems the general consensus is we start it all again with a little break in-between. Hopefully that will give me a chance to get my work/life/blog ducks back in a row too!

The above photograph was taken from behind the Hacha Falls waterfall in Venezuela. At the time I remember thinking it was a bit scary standing behind a curtain of water – little did I know what was to come! Whilst in Canaima National Park, we also walked behind the Sapo Falls waterfall thought to be the one that featured in Last of the Mohicans. We also visited one of the highest waterfalls in the World – Angel Falls, accessibly only through the Venezuelan jungle.

Alphabet Project | V is for volcanoes

Thank you to everyone that joined the Alphabet Photography Project over the past week with letter U.  It’s hard to believe we’ve almost reached the end of the alphabet!

So what do we think, shall we do it all again? Let me know in the comments if you’re keen.

These photographs were taken in New Zealand six years ago. Some say the volcanic peaks of Ngauruhoe, Tongariro and Ruapehu are among the top ten single-day treks in the World. All are highly active and the terrain reflects this.

It took 6 hours to complete the 20km hike across the Tongariro Crossing which at times saw us reach an altitude of 1,800 metres. It’s not really something you should be doing after a friend’s wedding – least of all on the spur of the moment. There were broken toes, sweat and tears but we rewarded ourselves with what was probably the best lager ever!

Alphabet Project | U is for umbrella

Thank you to everyone that joined the Alphabet Photography Project over the past week with letter T.

Every now and again a letter crops up and you know exactly what the photo will be. I couldn’t resist this one of POD holding a brolly for the first time. We were at Headley Heath and although it poured initially, it did clear up. It’s another gem from the National Trust.

Alphabet Project | T is for tree climbing

Thank you to everyone that joined the Alphabet Photography Project over the past week with letter S.

This week may seem like a bit of a cop out but POD loves loves trees. Even if they have no branches she’ll attempt to climb them! Although there are lots of photographs of POD in trees, this one was taken a few days ago at National Trust managed Winkworth Arboretum.
