The Alphabet Project | X is for xanthocarpous

Hello everyone and welcome to letter X of the Alphabet Photography Project. Thank you so much to those of you that joined in with letter W last week.

Letter X is never easy is it! Thankfully I found a website with unusual words and discovered xanthocarpous which means ‘having yellow fruit’. Another interesting one was xanthospermous which means yellow seeds and xenodocheionology which is someone with a love for hotels!

The Alphabet Project | W is for withered

Hello everyone and welcome to letter W of the Alphabet Photography Project. Thank you so much to those of you that joined in with letter V last week.

Withered seems rather apt for letter W. Funnily enough this photograph was taken one rainy day at Wisley and the colour just caught my attention. I love that we have the dreaded letter X immediately after BritMums Live, must get the thinking cap on. If you’re going this weekend, I look forward to seeing you there, I can’t wait!

The Alphabet Project | V is for victorious

Hello everyone and welcome to letter V of the Alphabet Photography Project. Thank you so much to those of you that joined in with letter U last week. Hard to believe we’re near the end again!

The photograph above was taken in the garden when POD and Daddy had an impromptu run round with a rugby ball. On this occasion POD gained possession but as you’d expect it was short-lived! The photograph below was what happened when POD asked me to take a picture of her – I’d say she was pretty victorious here too!

The Alphabet Project | U is for uppermost

Hello everyone and welcome to letter U of the Alphabet Photography Project. Thank you so much to those of you that joined in with letter T last week.

Letter U is never an easy one especially when you’ve exhausted your umbrella supplies! That said I’ve just transferred some photographs from my old laptop to my current one and found this. It was taken at Bockett’s Farm where POD loved the tube slides – one of which was especially high. Funnily enough I was so busy lying down to take the photograph I forgot to move out of the way!

I also found this image of POD upside down at a local park which is more entertaining than anything else!

The Alphabet Project | T is for thrill

Hello everyone and welcome to letter T of the Alphabet Photography Project. Thank you so much to those of you that joined in with letter S last week.

This photograph was taken over the Bank Holiday weekend at the Surrey County Show. Organised by the Surrey County Agricultural Society, it features farm animals of every kind (we especially like the dancing sheep show!), the Surrey Farmers’ Market and the Surrey Food Festival. It’s a great day out and there are always a few thrills to be had too – like the Helter Skelter.

The Alphabet Project | S is for shimmer

This week I thought I’d share a photograph from our recent trip to Greece. The main family pool looked wonderful at night and was beautifully lit. The reflections in the water were amazing and you’d often see the moon make an appearance too.

We’ve just had the most wonderful week away in Greece so letter R absolutely had to be for relaxation. This is a photograph of the beach bar pool that without doubt had the most amazing views. Absolute bliss!

The Alphabet Project | Q is for quest

Hello everyone and welcome to letter Q of the Alphabet Photography Project. Thank you to those of you that joined in with letter P last week.

This letter is never easy is it! There are so many weird and wonderful words beginning with the letter Q but they rarely fit the right photograph. Given I’ve just finished commuting to and from London every day, I’ve definitely been on a quest to get outdoors and capture the fabulous Spring blooms. The word seems rather apt somehow.

The Alphabet Project | P is for POD

Letter P absolutely has to be for POD! Here’s a recent photo of her taking a break to pick a few dandelions (you’d never know she’d dressed herself!). I should also mention PODcast too given we heard today we’ve been shortlisted for a BiB Award in photography. I’m astounded quite frankly but thrilled too, thank you so very much if you voted.

The Alphabet Project | O is for overhead

Hello everyone and welcome to letter O of the Alphabet Photography Project. Thank you to those of you that joined in with letter N last week.

This week I thought I’d share this iconic clock which juts over the cobbles of Guildford High Street. I love looking skyward and used to do it a lot in London. This 1683 timepiece is striking and now in pristine condition having had repairs carried out last year. The gold leaf gilding was stripped and replaced and parts of the mechanical clock movement were mended. You can see this beautiful Guildhall clock from pretty much anywhere in the High Street.
