Casdon Little Shopper Range

POD always enjoyed playing with a supermarket till at her grandparents house. Much hilarity ensued when she shouted “clean up on aisle 3” down the pretend microphone! POD’s excitement levels were almost stratospheric when she received the touch-sensitive Supermarket Till from Casdon though as its digitised and has a working calculator.

The Supermarket Till (RRP £20) is part of the Little Shopper range from Casdon which also includes the Post Office (RRP £12) and the Shopping Trolley (RRP £15). The Supermarket Till, designed for children aged 3-8, came with everything POD needed to play shopkeeper. There were branded stickers for a range of food items such as Hovis bread, milk, Baxter’s soup, Birds Eye Chicken Curry, Chicken Fillets and Arctic Roll along with stickers for the supermarket till and a bank card. The set also includes a selection of coins and notes plus a couple of loose vegetables.

Casdon Little ShopperThe digital element (which requires three AA batteries) brings a whole new dimension to both imaginative and interactive play. POD is a little chatterbox so it’s wonderful to watch her concentrate on adding while she’s storytelling! POD loved that the scanner beeped every time she used it and that she could access ‘her money’ (neatly compartmentalised) at the touch of a button. The digital screen on the Supermarket Till was easy for five year old POD to navigate, she picked up what she needed to do with ease. There are a variety of functions too, including images for weighing food items and a calculator, so she can combine the two.

POD is learning maths at school now so the Supermarket Till is a great way to teach her how to add and subtract. I’m sure we’ll progress onto multiplying once she’s mastered the basics. We’re also using it to teach her the value of money as she’s not quite got to grips with that as yet. The keypad also includes an AC button so she can start her transaction again if she makes a mistake. The microphone is a superb hit and we’ve heard “clean up on aisle 3” on several occasions now which continues to make us giggle. There’s also a slot for a bank card with a working chip and pin feature which beeps so you get the full effect. The Casdon Supermarket Till has been a huge hit in the Dove household and it’s great value too. I’m sure we’ll be having lots more fun with it for some time to come yet!
