A peek at the SS16 collection from Clarks

It’s always a pleasure to preview the coming season and Clarks SS16 collection was no exception. Including an array of styles for women, men and children, here’s a sneaky peek at what you can expect to see in store from January onwards.

The First Shoes Collection features a vibrant mix of super bright shades and vintage influences. From baby shoes, booties and pram shoes for 0-9 months, this range is soft and supple. From size 2 upwards we really are spoilt for choice with Little Jam, a Mary-Jane style pre-walker, in navy patent embellished with flower detailing on the toe.

The girls collection fuses heritage design with modern colour and the absolute faves were the Dabi Leila patent T-bars which are available in yellow neon and pink from size 4. They’re classic shoes with a buckle strap and chunky sole given a contemporary twist. POD would absolutely love them, such a shame her feet are now a size too big. There are many other options though like the pump style Ath Shine which has a lightweight sole and flex grooves that move with the foot. It’s a playful style with a spotty upper and pink colour pops. The Juggle Pop range offers a more casual look with soft shades of grey and pint with a polka dot print.

For older girls, sandal styles include strappy two part silhouettes, water friendly styles and cute vintage style prints. Canvas options include the Pattie Kim which comes with its own pens so these plimsoll look lace-ups can be coloured then washed clean again! There are metallic desert boots too with inside zips, a rubber sole and their own customisable badges. The Tri-Bitsey range is a sporty take on the Mary-Jane but with Trigenic Flex inspired soft leather and a trendy polka dot print. There’s also a sport range available with Air Spring FX built-in and an Ortholite footbed for comfort.

There is just as much choice in the boys collection with First Shoes in vibrant colours to match energy levels! The Tiny Myle is from size 2 upwards with the Ath Leap range from size 4. The latter has easy-access rip-tape straps and lightweight flexible soles along in modern neon colours. The Juggle It and Softly Bay ranges are also available in size 4 upwards. All the boys sandals are designed for active children with special comfort technology incorporated.

There are a wealth of lightweight canvas shoes on offer too. The Club Skate for example includes a bold camouflage print and vulcanised sole. The boys sports range includes the same technology as the girls with little details including a neoprene pocket to store excess laces! Club Rise are boys colourful desert boots and come with customisable badges. Casuals are inspired by the Trigenic Flex shoe and have 3 grooves to put a spring in their step!

Making its debut at London Fashion Week was the Christopher Raeburn collection for men and women. The Clarks X range comprises of 11 men’s and women’s styles inspired by anthropologist Tom Harrison in Borneo. Clarks has once again collaborated with the V&A to create a 1960’s inspired collection for men and women comprising of classic styles and shimmery patents.

There are numerous additions to the Clarks SS16 collection for men and women including new styles in the Originals range and an array of style options. Having got distracted by what was on offer for the ladies, we can expect to see heels, flats, summer boots, sandals and handbags. With this just a snippet of what’s in store, we’re going to be totally spoilt for choice!

Metallics are the new neutrals and offer a dose of everyday shimmer whereas the T-bar cuts keep it feminine. There are on trend blocks, square toes and retro inspired colour-blocking as well. Griffin Mia, with its detachable fringe, creates a whole new look and offers Cushion Soft™ layers underfoot. Whereas the sandals collection consists of understated and embellished to suit every occasion. The orange and the purple are certainly winners although I’m loving a bit of that leopard print too!
