Following last week’s update on the Dove garden, this time we’re at the Wisley Flower Show. We were at RHS Wisley a month ago and given my love for close-up photography, the show definitely seemed worth a visit.
We left the house later than planned (as you do with a toddler!) but I’d not anticipated quite how busy it would be. We ended up parked in a field so I was thankful I took POD’s potty! It was only a ten minute walk from there to the show though and such a beautiful day.
The RHS Wisley Flower Show is described as a spectacular yet informal late summer show. You can browse, buy and obtain advice from around 50 nurseries and garden trade stands including RHS Chelsea and Hampton Court 
Palace Flower Show medal winners. There’s also an Expert Zone offering advice and demonstrations from nursery owners and Wisley garden staff.
The most amazing explosion of colour greeted us when we arrived at the Flower Show. There were wonderful displays with everything from Canna, Lillies and Clematis to Bonsai trees, Hostas and airplants. Not forgetting an array of unusual house plants and rare tropical varieties.
If you’re looking for the wow factor, it was definitely there. There were some amazing purchases to be made had I had another set of hands. Although no gardening expert, I loved taking photographs of so many 
beautiful flowers. Who knows perhaps its in preparation for my later years!
While we were there we also had a peek at the incredible National Dahlia Society Show. You may well get to see some Dahlia’s next week!

Oh wow Charly what beautiful pictures, I am loving the Clematis and all those air plants, how wonderful are they? I would never think of adding those to my garden, I always thought of them as indoor plants, but they would be wonderful outside. Truly stunning pictures xx

oh wow! i would have needed another memory card. lol so many beautiful flowers. i love the white in the 11th picture. i guess it’s a clematis?
Thank you Claudia, very kind of you. I cleared my card before I arrived there funnily enough! Took a ridiculous number of photographs in a relatively short period. If I can count correctly, the 11th photo is an airplant I think but there is a Clematis third from the end 🙂

Stunning photos as usual Charly,RHS Wisely looks fab. So good to see such a variety of colour too and even some bees. Our bee numbers are dwindling here by the day – I like to think they are all off somewhere making lavender honey and having little bee-sized cups of tea after their hard work these past few weeks.
Or maybe I just read too much Beatrix Potter as a child…

Thank you Annie, very kind of you to say. I do love the colourful flowers although I’m looking forward to seeing what autumn brings. Our bees have mostly departed our garden now too despite some new flowers. I think you’re right, they just go and have a honey party somewhere 🙂

Looks like you had a lovely day. Some stunning photos as usual! I’m a complete horticultural philistine so have no idea what air plants are but really like the spiky one sticking out of the rock (or is it a tree?) – I really want to do a rock garden feature and this has motivated me not to give up on the idea. Look forward to next week’s installment – they’ve been tweeting some photos but I’m sure you will treat us to a wonderful collection!
Thank you Sally, we had a great time though albeit a speedy one! POD doesn’t like being in her buggy too long, she needed to run about. The airplants are the spikey grey ones, they’re beautiful. A rock garden with airplants would be amazing 🙂
