Bonfire Night dates back to 1605 and as we know marks the anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot, when Guido Fawkes attempted to blow up King James I and his government. With so many processions, firework displays and bonfires taking place this year, here’s a round-up of some of the best in Surrey.

Brockham
A family night of fun and celebration which takes place on Saturday 2nd November on Brockham Village Green. A procession leaves the village green at 6.15pm with the bonfire lit at 7.45pm and the fireworks display beginning at 8.15pm. Brockham Village Green, Brockham, Surrey RH3 7HP.
Chiddingfold
The historic Chiddingold bonfire takes place on Saturday 2nd November. There’s a torchlit procession from 7pm at St Mary’s School with the bonfire set alight at 7:15pm and the fireworks at 8pm. Chiddingfold Green, Chiddingfold, Surrey GU8 4TX.
Chipstead
Celebrating its 50th year, the Chipstead fireworks take place on Saturday 2nd November from 5pm. The Meads, High Road, Chipstead, Coulsdon, Surrey CR5 3SB.
Cobham
Gates open for Cobham fireworks around 6pm on Saturday 2nd November with the bonfire lit at 6.30pm and the display starting at 7.30pm. Convent Lane, Cobham, KT11 1HB.
Cranleigh
The Cranleigh torchlit procession starts at 6pm on Saturday 2nd November at Park Drive, Ewhurst Road. The bonfire is set alight around 6.45pm with the firework display starting around 7pm. The Common (Guildford Road side), Cranleigh, Surrey GU6 8LU.
Epsom
Taking place at the Hook Road Arena, the Epsom funfair and fireworks display is on Saturday 2nd November. Gates open at 5.30pm with the fireworks starting at 7.45pm. Hook Heath Arena, Hook Road, Epsom, Surrey KT19 8QG.
Guildford
The Guildford fireworks take place on Saturday 2nd November with a torchlit procession through the high street. The procession starts at 7pm (torches on sale from 6pm) and heads to Stoke Park. The fireworks display starts at 8pm. Stoke Park, Guildford, Surrey GU1 1ER.
Horley Town
The Horley Town fireworks take place on Saturday 2nd November. Gates open at 6pm with the bonfire lit at 7pm and the fireworks beginning at 7.30pm. Horley Recreation Ground, Brighton Road, Horley, Surrey RH6 7HJ.
Kempton Park
Taking place on Saturday 2nd November at Kempton Park Racecourse, these fireworks include performers, a DJ in addition to the main event. Kempton Park Racecourse, Staines Rd East, Shepperton, Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey TW16 5AQ.
Kingston upon Thames
The Kingston Upon Thames fireworks take place on Friday 8th November at Kingsmeadow Stadium. Gates open at 6.30pm with the display beginning at 8pm. Kingsmeadow Stadium, Kingston Road, Kingston Upon Thames, Surrey KT1 3PB.
Reigate Fireworks
Established in 1934, the Reigate fireworks display takes place on Saturday 2nd November. Gates open at 6pm with the fireworks beginning at 7pm. Colley Lane, Reigate, Surrey RH2 9JB
RHS Wisley
RHS Wisley has its first fireworks display on Saturday 2nd November. Open from 5pm, the fireworks start at 6pm with other activities on the Seven Acres terrace until 8pm. RHS Wisley, Woking, Surrey GU23 6QB.
Ripley Fireworks
The Ripley fireworks take place on the last Saturday of October which this year is the 26th. There’s a torchlit procession with a band which starts at the village hall to the green. In addition to the bonfire and firework display, there’s a funfair and live music. High Street, Ripley, Surrey GU23 6BB.
Woking fireworks
The Woking fireworks return to Woking Park again this year, on Saturday 2nd November. Gates open at 5.3pm and the firework display begins at 7.30pm. Woking Park, Kingfield Road, Woking, Surrey GU22 9BA.
