POD Travels launched following the success of PODcast, which continues to cover our UK adventures, POD Travels focuses on our global travel.
Our travels
Between us, we’ve been lucky enough to travel extensively most of our lives. From South-East Asia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands to the Caribbean, South America and Australia where I lived for two years. We’ve travelled a lot in Europe too where we’ve enjoyed many a sun, ski and city break.
Our travel abroad is typically centred around discovery, adventure and exploration. We love finding those spectacular places off the beaten track, you know the ones that literally take your breath away, and we enjoy having a home from home on occasions too.
Our experience
To give you some background, JD and I work in the marketing industry and have done for 15 years or so. We’ve held Board level positions in leading London marketing agencies and spent a few years running our own marketing and new business consultancy. These days we continue to work in marketing although I defected to client-side with a focus on content and PR. It’s a unique position to be in – an experienced marketer who also has also worked as a blogger for a number of years.
Our family
If you’re new to POD Travels, the Doves are a family of three based in the UK. We’ve always had a passion for travel and when we’re home, we love nothing more than being in the great outdoors exploring the beautiful Surrey countryside.
We lived in South London for many years before moving to leafy Surrey in 2010. Our daughter “POD” arrived on the 25th December that year so, as you can imagine, Christmas is a pretty special time in the Dove household. POD, a nickname on my parent blog which kind of stuck (hence POD Travels), is at school so our trips are during the school holidays. Weekends are typically spent in Europe or here in the UK.
Photography
I’m passionate about photography and storytelling. I love showing people what the beautiful places we visit are like so they can imagine being there. Photography is very much my thing although I enjoy bringing places to life with video too.
