POD always enjoys toys that allow her imagination to run away with her. Having thoroughly enjoyed the Pet Parade Play Garden from Flair, we expected much of the same with their Family Scooter Playset. She’s been asking for a dog a lot recently so the Cavalier King Charles and its puppy, while nowhere near the same, are a great compromise!
Flair’s Pet Parade Family Scooter Playset (RRP £14.99) has been created for children aged 4 to 8. It comes with a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and her puppy, scooters, helmets, bibs and goggles for each of them along with a lead for the Mummy and a backpack and dummy for the puppy. No batteries are needed so once the packaging was open, and the Mummy’s bone sticker attached to her collar, POD was good to go. You can personalise both dogs tags too if you or your child has the ability to write small. POD changes the names of her ‘friends’ on a regular basis so we opted to keep them generic, just in case.
What’s great about both the dogs is that they have realistic movements. By that I mean they move with ease on a flat surface like a table or wooden floor and you can attach the puppy to the Mummy’s tail too. Each has a joystick button on its back which can be pressed to send the dog in a different direction. POD loves the joystick as it meant she could move her pet’s head, eyes and tail as well as making the two kiss! She very quickly got into character pretending to be both the Mummy and the puppy, adopting some interesting accents along the way.
When it was time to head out with their scooters, both dogs donned their goggles and helmets before whizzing across the table at great speed. POD would then be back in character talking about how much fun they were having together. It’s lovely to watch, she has the most superb imagination. On occasions the Mummy might be led (with the lead that also comes with the set) while the puppy followed along behind – its dummy in place if need be. The Pet Parade Family Scooter Playset is superb fun, POD has even gone to the lengths of taking her new pets to bed every night. I’m sure there is lots of fun to be had and I suspect it’s not long before the dogs are befriending the Pet Parade garden.
