The Beatles’ inspired Beat Bugs on Netflix

Josh Wakely, the creator of Beat Bugs, broke new ground when he was granted permission to bring The Beatles’ songs to a new generation. It had taken him over three years of trying. Beat Bugs features more than 50 songs from the Lennon/McCartney ‘Northern Songs’ catalogue with covers by world-leading music artists.

With inspiration taken from the songs of The Beatles, Beat Bugs tells uplifting and life-affirming stories with hope and melody. The animation focuses on five best friends who discover life’s most important lessons together in an overground backyard.

Beat Bugs is one of the trailers I saw at a recent #StreamTeam event and loved it. Even watching the trailer you can’t help but smile – it’s certainly going to be a feel good series. POD has become such a huge fan of Netflix and I know she is just going to adore Beat Bugs. You can check out a few tasters below with news of another gem from Josh Wakely, of the Motown variety, following that!

Beat-Bugs-2 edit

As well as Beat Bugs, Josh Wakely also has an Untitled Motown Project in the pipeline which promises to be just as exciting. This new musically-themed Netflix original series revolves around a lovable, funny and slightly shy eight year old boy called Ben who discovers he has an extraordinary ability to bring street-art to life. Living in the imaginary city of Motown with his family, Ben and his friends discover that creativity is magic and they revive vibrancy to their city and learn life lessons.

The Executive Music Producer is Smokey Robinson and the series will bring back 52 of the songs from the Motown label including ABC, My Girl, Please Mr Postman, You Can’t Hurry Love, Reach Out I’ll Be There and I heard it through the Grapevine. Songs will be sung by contemporary artists. We cannot wait!
