Sharing with La Famiglia at Prezzo

I’m not sure I know anyone that doesn’t adore Italian food. The Doves certainly love it so we were totally up for the #PrezzoLaFamiglia Challenge at Prezzo. La Famiglia is a pasta sharing bowl designed to feed up to four people. That did mean of course the three of us had to agree what to have! Initially, we thought we might share Spaghetti Bolognese as it’s one of POD’s favourites. That said, we had our eyes on one of the other sharing bowls.

There are four pasta sharing bowls available at Prezzo. Penne Arrabiata which comes with crushed chillies, parsley and garlic in a pomodoro sauce. Spaghetti Carbonara which is pancetta in a carbonara sauce with crispy prosciutto and parsley. Spaghetti Bolognese which is the traditional slow cooked beef ragù. We opted for the Penne Alla Rusticana sharing bowl which seemed too delicious not to try with its seasoned chicken, pancetta, peppers and rosemary in a creamy pomodoro sauce. Thankfully for us six year old POD is a great eater and she didn’t mind – providing of course she could have strawberry ice-cream for desert!

Although we visited Prezzo many times when we lived in London, amazingly we’ve not been to the Guildford restaurant before. What a welcome we got though, the staff were so friendly and instantly made us feel at home. POD got some crayons and an activity sheet almost straightaway which pleased her greatly. She chose orange as her drink of choice while we went for a glass of wine each, it was such a glorious day it seemed rude not to.

We don’t get to do it often enough but there’s something rather fun about sharing food and enjoying this family style of eating. Our bowl of Penne Alla Rusticana was generous and we vowed we’d attempt to finish it! There’s more than enough for four people that’s for sure and it’s great value too. We were quite trusting with how we divided the portions at first, each of us helping ourselves to a couple of spoonfuls each. POD ate a little less than she would do normally as she’d had a sandwich during a 3 hour class beforehand. We certainly took advantage of that – the POD Father clearly cherry picking additional spoonfuls of chicken! The Penne Alla Rusticana, and the garlic bread, was superb – with a concerted effort we managed to polish off the lot.

We were all going to have ice-cream for our pudding but we got really distracted by some of the other Prezzo desserts. They all sounded SO tasty. POD had strawberry ice-cream which was exactly what she wanted. The POD Father went for sticky toffee pudding with hot butterscotch sauce and villa ice-cream. I finally went for a salted caramel arctic slice which was vanilla cream, salted caramel and golden honeycomb sandwiched between two slices of light sponge. We all had a taste of each other’s deserts but there was a lot less sharing for this course! We had an absolute feast of a lunch though, washed down with a cup of fresh coffee – or in POD’s case a babychino. The food was great, the service was great and we had the best family lunch we’ve had in ages. Grazie Prezzo, I suspect we’ll be seeing you again for more La Famiglia very soon.

It looks so mouth-watering. We wanted to try the Rustica for this project but the girls I was with demanded carbonara, then raved! Fab photos! #PrezzoLaFamiliglia
