Remember Hatchimals were THE hottest toys to have in 2016? Well now children can hatch a whole world with Hatchimals CollEGGtibles from Spin Master. These small speckled eggs just need a little nurturing to hatch and there are over 70 to collect in season one, each belonging to one of 13 families. Having missed getting an original Hatchimal for her Christmas Day birthday, POD was almost beside herself when the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles arrived. She saw the spotty bag as soon as she returned from school – even though I’d tried to hide it on the top of a cupboard!
Inside was a Hatchimals CollEGGtibles 2 pack and nest (RRP £4.99) and two blind bags (RRP £2.99 each). The Hatchimals CollEGGtibles 2 pack had a map so POD could discover what it was like in the wonderful world of Hatchtopia. This shows 11 Hatchimals CollEGGtibles hangouts which have great names like Crystal Canyon, Polar Paradise and Breezy Beach. Giggle Grove was definitely the stand-out favourite though. All the families are listed on the reverse so POD could see all the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles she can collect. There are 13 families in all including Garden, Forest and River to Farm, Jungle and Ocean plus there are special and limited edition Hatchimals CollEGGtibles too.
Each Hatchimals CollEGGtible has different coloured speckles so POD’s first task was to try and identify which family her Hatchimals CollEGGtible might be from. POD opted for Jungle, or possibly the special edition Lilac Lake, family as the eggs have purple speckles. It’s easy to hatch the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles. All POD had to do was rub the purple heart on the with her thumbs until it turned pink. When she pushed the heart it made a hole in the Hatchimals CollEGGtible so she could hatch it. In actual fact, you can just break open the egg without rubbing the heart but it’s much more fun nurturing what’s inside.
POD was absolutely right with her guess and she hatched a Hatchimals CollEGGtible from the Jungle family which had little silver wings. Once POD had got over the initial excitement of the hatching process, we made the rest of the egg shell into a nest. There are marks around the side of it so it’s easy to do. POD was then back looking at the families to work out which family her other egg might belong to. This time she opted for Garden although the Hatchimals CollEGGtible she hatched was actually from the Meadow family. Both are similar in their markings. It too had silver wings and took pride of place in the pink nest that came with the 2 pack. You can get more than one Hatchimals CollEGGtibles in the nest although POD opted for one as it was a nest for leaders! Much to her delight POD also discovered these first two Hatchimals CollEGGtibles could lock tails and fly together.
POD then moved onto the single packs of Hatchimals CollEGGtibles. These are brilliant as there’s a blind bag within a blind bag. The first Hatchimals CollEGGtible POD hatched was a tiger from the Jungle family with great detailing. This was closely followed by what she thought was a hedgehog. In actual fact it was a zebra from the Savannah family. With all her Hatchimals CollEGGtibles hatched, POD set about getting them settled. The zebra became the leader and took the pink nest while the other Hatchimals CollEGGtibles swapped theirs. Having enjoyed the great outdoors, POD then re-homed the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles in her bedroom where they’re eagerly awaiting their next adventure. The great thing about the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles is that they’re small enough to fit in little hands and carry around. POD has already asked to take them out and about with her.
POD has now ticked four Hatchimals CollEGGtible off her CollEGGtibles list. Having received no duplicates there was no need to think about trading in any of her Hatchimals CollEGGtibles. We’re hoping that day doesn’t come any time soon as she’s not very keen on giving any away even if it means getting one back! Time will tell though. You can find discover much more about the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles™ here where you can also download the soon to be released app. There are up upcoming books coming from Penguin RandomHouse in the future too.
